Comments

When you leave comments on our site, we collect the data you enter in the comments form, your IP address, and browser user agent string to help identify and prevent spam. An anonymized string (hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to check for a profile picture associated with your email address.

Media

Avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors can download and extract location data from such images.

Cookies

If you leave a comment, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies for convenience. These cookies last for one year. If you have an account, a temporary cookie is set when you visit the login page to determine if your browser accepts cookies.

When you log in, several cookies save your login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, screen options cookies for a year. Selecting “Remember Me” extends your login for two weeks. Logging out removes login cookies.

Editing or publishing an article results in an additional cookie saved in your browser, indicating the post ID of the edited article. This cookie expires after 1 day.

Articles may contain embedded content (videos, images) behaving similarly to if you visited the originating website.

Data Sharing and Retention

Comments and metadata are retained indefinitely. For registered users, personal information is stored in user profiles. Users can view, edit, or delete their information. Website administrators can also view and edit this information.

Your Data Rights

If you have an account or left comments, you can request an exported file of your personal data, including provided information. You can also request erasure of your personal data, excluding data we must keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Visitor comments may undergo automated spam checks.
